Feral Kitten Appeal! Can you help...

Our branch is currently experiencing a great problem with feral cats and we have had lots of calls from people telling us about litters of feral kittens in the area. We are making a desperate appeal to our supporters for help.

As we are only a small branch we just do not have the capacity to take all these kittens in for socialistaion and rehoming. We are confident that the little kittens we have been able to rescue will be suitable for rehoming after our fosteres have spent time with them and given them lots of love. However, there are a great deal of kittens which we just won't be able to accomodate and as a result they won't be suitable for rehoming in a domestic environment.

However, these cats will be ideal farm cats and great mousers! If you know of anyone who has a small holding or farm who can give a home to any of these kittens then please ring Sue on 01942 711101 or email helencatsprotection@yahoo.co.uk Thanks for your support!

A BIG THANKS TO TREV AND WILFY'S NEW OWNERS FOR GIVING THESE TWO GIRLS A SECOND CHANCE AND A NEW LOVING HOME!!

Trevor and Wilfred have been patiently waiting for a new home now for 9 months. They are not currently in Cats Protection pens and have been staying with their previous owner until a new family can be found. As you can see from the photos they are both absolutely lovely! Here is a little about them:

They are both 8 year old girls (despite their names suggesting otherwise!) who aren't sisters but are the of best friends and need to go to a home together. Both are incredibly affectionate and loving cats. Wilfy is very friendly and will follow you around the house like a little dog. She loves to be made a fuss of and have lots of attention and compliments!

Trev's the quieter of the two girls, but still loves a good fuss. She's a little more shy and make take a little longer to get used to different people. They both love to be around people and have fantsatice temperaments but have been used to a household without any other pets. If you are looking for feline companions then these two girls are the ones for you!  Trev and Wilfy are both insured, neutered and up to date with vaccinations. They are also treated for fleas and worms. The only thing they haven't got is a new home.

Please can you consider offering these two lovely ladies a new home, they have been waiting so patienly but always seem to get overlooked for a younger cat.. If you would like more information or would like to go and view them, please can you ring 07968270005

Rambo's Story

This is Rambo and he is a very special cat indeed. We have never met a cat quite like him! He came into us in a very bad state, as you can see from his picture he needed his ear amputating which was cancerous. Rambo was also very skinny, with matted fur and full of fleas! Despite everything he had endured and the treatment he has had while in our care he has never once grumbled. He recently had his staples removed from his ear which must have hurt poor Rambo, yet he just looked up knowingly at his foster mum as if to say, "this needs to be done!" Rambo is by no means a young cat but he is a very brave and beautiful creature who purrs his way through life! I think we can all learn something valuable from him! We were worried that Rambo would get overlooked when it came to re-homing as he wasn't a young boy, only had one ear and looked a little rough round the edges! However, Rambo has found a new home and his new family instantly fell in love with him, just like we all did at Cats Protection. We're over the moon that Rambo has found a new home but we will miss him terribly. We wish him all the luck for the future and we will never forget this brave little fighter who touched all our hearts. XX

Congratulations to one of our supporters Ian Blithell, who ran a marathon in Florence in aid of a few charities, one of them being us! Despite it raining the entire time he was running, Ian beat his goal and raised a massive £443.72 for Atherton & Wigan Cats Protection. Thank you Ian!!!

Cats Protection would like to give a great big thank you to the staff of BOC for their very generous donation.  The employees in Swinton very kindly donated £494 and BOC matched this, raising a total of £986.  This will go a long way to help the many cats and ktitens we have in our care.  Thank you so much to everyone involved.
