What we do

Here at the Birmingham Adoption Centre, we take in rescued, abandoned and unwanted cats for re-homing.
When you visit the centre you will see all the cats that are ready to be adopted. Once you have chosen your cat (or they have chosen you !), you can reserve him/her until you have had your home visit.
The home visit forms an important part of our re-homing process. It lets us see that our cat will be going to a suitable and safe environment. It also gives you the chance to ask any questions or raise any issues that may affect your cat's future life. Once you have passed your home check, you can pick up your new cat and start a new life together.
The exception to this procedure is adopting a kitten. We do not reserve kittens. If you wish to adopt a kitten, you will need to be placed on our kitten waiting list, and we will contact you when any kittens become ready for homing. In this case, you will need to have had your home visit before choosing your kitten.
Each cat leaves our centre
* Neutered or spayed (if old enough)
* Microchipped to avoid being lost
* Treated for fleas and worms
* With four weeks insurance
* Fully vaccinated
All the above treatment, plus the cat's food whilst in our care, costs the charity £175 - £200 per cat, so we charge a set adoption fee of £45 per cat/kitten. Of course, if you wish to leave an additional donation, we would be grateful.
We receive NO government funding and rely solely on the generosity of public donations to pay the cost of the cats in our care. The more we receive, the more cats we can help.
Please come along and meet our cats, kittens and staff. We look forward to seeing you.
