What we do

The Callington branch started in April 1987.

Our branch is run purely by a small group of 'volunteers' working to rescue and rehome unwanted cats & kittens in South East Cornwall.  We cover the following towns and surrounding villages: Callington, Liskeard, Looe, Saltash, Gunnislake and Tavistock.

We take in and rehome stray, abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens, which are cared for by our volunteer foster carers who have specially built cat pens in their gardens, supplied by Callington Cats Protection.  We presently have just 1 volunteer who is able to foster for us, Linda has a single pen, fitted with electric, situated in her garden.  Unfortunately, there are always more cats needing our help than we have facilities to take in, so we have to operate a waiting system.

Sadly due to so many unwanted cats we are rarely in the position of having empty pens, We are in urgent need of volunteers who will be dedicated to working with the cats and who would be interested in taking on the role of fostering.

The Callington branch is totally self-funding, we hold as many fund-raising events as we can where we sell donated items and CP merchandise.  This is also a good way of promoting CP and what the charity does.
