A week in the life of a Reception cat.
By Mirella aged 6 & 3/4
Saturday
Unfortunately, it's been a quiet day. We had two cats admitted today, one a little girl called Maid Marion, found straying and heavily pregnant. Ritchie, also a stray, was a little bit worried at being in a strange box. I told him that he'd be ok and not to worry....I didn't mention the vet business though....he's not neutered!
Four cats went home and believe me they were just in time, early afternoon it got really cold and as I was watching the ponies in the field through the door, white stuff started falling out of the sky. It looked very soft and fluffy but all the staff started putting sweaters and coats on before working outside. So, teatime and I'm settled with my bottom on the radiator, and here I'm staying for the night thank you!
Sunday
White stuff is cold! Another day by the radiator, although I did venture away when the catnip came out. We had visitors today looking for a new cat but they didn't stay long because of "The Weather". One cat was reserved and is waiting to go to their new home, two cats and a kitten went home and four came in, Blizzard, Flurry, Flake and Drift. Quite appropriate names I thought.
Monday
I'm famous! Yvonne, one of the cat care assistants took my photo and put me on Facebook. She's told everyone that I'm looking for a new home and she's right. I've been here at the centre now for 700 days and I would love a new home. I get quite sad seeing everyone coming in and passing me by, I'm a meet and greet cat but I still need a new home.
Tuesday
Vet day so it's busy, busy. All the cats reserved had their pre homing checks and were cleared to go home. Later we had the Friends meeting which was a treat for me, I had several laps to sit on and let all the Friends know how much I appreciated the cuddles....they say I purr like a steam train.....hope they're not referring to my weight!
Wednesday
The phone rang off the hook today, so many cats needing help, by the end of the day another 10 cats had been put on the waiting list and only two had been homed. My maths isn't great but I'm beginning to think that we might have a problem here.........
Thursday
What a day.....apparently we're having a bit of a "do" at the weekend, Valentines Weekend they're calling it. There's tables going up and posters and love hearts everywhere, who knows....maybe I might meet my purrfect partner???*sigh*
Friday
Not much to report....have had a groom and had my claws clipped ready for the weekend....this will be my second valentine day at the centre and as much as I love all my friends here I really want to find the love of my life.....wish me luck! XXXXX
