Fosterers
If you would like to get involved, please call 0808 0019 1919.
Without a shelter, which would be the focal point of our activities, we rely on help from a local cattery and a few fosterers. We are always desperately in need of new fosterers but this is not something that everyone can undertake as many people find it hard to foster a cat and then part with it to someone else!
Indeed, we have actually homed many cats this way. People approach us looking for a new cat but are not sure what they want, having perhaps recently lost a much loved pet. Sometimes, they agree to foster for us until they find what they want and frequently end up keeping one or other of the cats they have had as ‘guests’.
Other times, for older cats, particularly if they are on medication, we place them in ‘long-term’ foster homes where the new ‘owner’ will give them all the TLC they need and we will be responsible for the vet bills and ongoing treatment.
And then there are those people who are prepared to do the ‘short-term’ fostering until new homes are found. This is quite a difficult thing for a lot of people to do, as it is so easy to become very fond of any cat in your own home and therefore very hard to pass it on to a new home. These special people are very important to us and we are always on the lookout for others of a similar disposition!
Items for sale
As we raise the majority of our own funds via jumble sales, quiz nights and such like, we are always in need of things to sell. Bric-a-brac, books, puzzles, children’s toys, videos, cd’s – the list is pretty well endless. If you have such items you would like to donate to us call 020 8952 1350 and we can arrange collection/delivery.
Sponsored 5km Charity Run
It's great news that not only did Gemma Harrington complete the 5KM Charity Run round Richmond Park on 9th April she surpassed her target and raised over £500.00 for our Branch.
She was planning to do another run for us at the beginning of July but unfortunately she was unwell and therefore not able to run.
She has signed up to do another run for us on the 1st October and we're hoping she gets the all clear from her physio to
do this. Once she knows she will update her web page on on justgiving.com which is still open should you wish to sponsor her.
Big thanks to all of you who supported Gemma in April and please check her website for an update as it's never too late to help her raise funds for us. To donate online visit the site above and search for Gemma Harrington.
