At time of writing, we
already have our first kittens of the year! Mums and babies are both doing
well, but despite all our efforts at neutering, it seems that there are still
far too many cats and kittens out there.
As we are full, as soon as the kittens are old enough to travel, these
young families will be transferred to headquarters clearing a space for the
next rescue!! Birdie, a young tabby/tortie mum gave birth in a pram
top which had been stored in an outhouse in Slough. The owner found the young family and reported
it to Ray, who rescued them and brought them over to Peter. Birdie has 7 kittens of assorted colours. The next rescue was also
from Slough,found by passers-by who
noticed the young family huddled in the garden under an old armchair. They put
them in a basket and brought them over to Peter, delivering them at 10 o’clock
at night! The Mum, a tabby, has three
babies aged about five weeks, two black and white and one tabby. All are friendly and doing well. This is just the beginning of the kitten
season – no doubt there will be many more similar stories throughout the
summer!
