We are now using Animal Search UK, if you have lost or found a cat please click on the yellow links at the bottom of the page.

If you would like us to advertise your lost cat on our Facebook page, please email enquiries@midsomer.cats.org.uk - if you can provide a photo that would be great. We will need your name, cat's description (if no picture), area last seen, date the cat went missing and your contact number, also any other information that you think might help. We will then add your cat to our Facebook page.

For help with sick or injured strays

Please note that if your enquiry is in connection with a sick or injured cat you should contact the RSPCA, they will provide you with a log number which will enable one of the local veterinary practices to give emergency treatment.

Royal Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA)

The RSPCA has an agreement with the British Veterinary Association (BVA) to provide initial emergency assessment and care for sick and injured animals. This may include euthanasia.  

In all cases the finder must have obtained prior authorisation by calling the RSPCA BEFORE attending the veterinary surgery.

Reporting a sick or injured cat to the RSPCA from the outset allows the release of funds for initial emergency treatment. It also allows the RSPCA to have the ability to investigate any potential cases of cruelty or neglect. These investigations cannot happen once the cat has been transferred to the care of another charity such as Cats Protection. 

Veterinary surgeons in the UK have a duty to provide first aid and pain relief for sick and injured strays presented to their care. Vets are also expected to take reasonable steps to locate an owner. This could include:

  • Scanning for a microchip
  • Looking for contact details on a collar
  • Advertising in the practice that a stray has been found.
  • Contacting clients or contacting other local veterinary practices to see if any animals have been reported missing.

Search first. Check small spaces – everywhere from cosy cupboards to garden sheds

If your cat is microchipped, talk to Petlog on 0844 4633 999 to register your cat missing

Contact all vet practices in the area

Make and put up flyers in the local area

Use social media! Post a picture and description of your cat on your own Facebook page as well as the page of your local Facebook group

Ask your neighbours if they recognise the cat – there might be someone searching for their lost pet

If the cat is sick or injured, call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999 (UK), USPCA on 028 3025 1000 (NI) or SSPCA on 03000 999 999 (Scotland)

Check the cat for identification. Take it to your local vet clinic to be scanned for a microchip

Check local newspapers and Facebook community groups to see if the cat has been listed as missing
