Do you love getting hands on with cats? Are you caring, but not overly sentimental, with a good working knowledge of cat welfare? Are you not afraid to get your hands dirty?
Yes? Then maybe you could help as a Fosterer! This very rewarding role isn’t just about stroking cats, its about looking after them night and day, keeping up to date records, and transporting cats to the vet as and when required.
We are looking for fosterers who can look after our cats in their own homes, mostly for one to two weeks at a time to get them ready for homing. Ideally you would have a spare room or a room that can be easily cleaned that you could use specifically for foster cats.
Role of Fostering
Some cats need short term fostering due to medication or needing to go through our quarantine system. Whereas occasionally we find that some need longer in foster care if they are suffering from a serious illness or pregnant mums and kittens. These will go to more experienced fosterers as they can be quite demanding.
Foster cats need to be kept indoors only, which gives people with no gardens a chance to have a cat in their home. They will also need enough space for a bed, litter tray, food bowls and room to play!
Fostering Responsibilities
You do not need to be in full time to foster, allowing you to maintain your job but still enjoying time at home with the cat. Most of our fosterers learn so much about the cats behaviour, which helps us to find a perfect home for the cat when it comes back for rehoming.
