Neutering Scheme – save pounds!
We encourage the neutering of all cats and kittens over the age of 4 months not required for breeding. Neutering has many health benefits, as well as helping to reduce the number of strays in the UK.
We will pay £26 towards the cost of neutering a female cat and £20 for a male cat if you are on a low income or benefits. Vouchers are sent direct to your vet.(If your cat is registered with the PDSA please contact them as they have their own neutering scheme).
Please be aware that the cost of a neuter may increase if there are complications with the surgery (such as a female is pregnant or a males testicles are retained etc) In these cases,Cats Protection will NOT pay anymore than the value of the voucher that has been offered.
Please call our Neutering line on 07837790693 for more information and advice.

Male cats that are neutered are less likely to:
- Roam, reducing the risk of them being run over.
- Fight, reducing the risk of injury from another cat.
- Contract Immunodeficiency virus (FIV) or feline leukaemia virus (FeLV) through fighting.
- Display territorial behaviour such as spraying.
- Unable to develop tumours of the testicles
Female neutered cats are less likely to:
- Get pregnant and have unwanted litters if kittens.
- Call or wail, as un-neutered queens do when in season.
- Contract diseases such as FIV and FeLV spread by bites from other cats.
- Develop cancer of the ovaries or uterus.
- Develop mammary cancer - especially if neutered under the age of 6 months.
