Job Description – Ferals Officer
The main purpose of this role is to Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programmes in the Rugby area. Trapping, transporting cats to and from the vets and then returning them to their original location will be your main roles. This role requires patience and perseverance together with good interpersonal and communication skills. You need to enjoy the hands on aspect of this role, dealing with unfriendly and potentially stressed animals, as well as talking to land owners and the general public.
Your own car is essential, as is a mobile phone, and internet access is advantageous. This role requires flexibility. Sometimes weeks will pass with no animals to be trapped, neutered and returned. At other times there may be several in one week. Once traps are set, you need to be on hand to transport the cats to the vet. Full training will be provided.
Job Description – Welfare Officer
The Welfare Officer’s roles include bringing cats into the branch, investigating reported welfare cases and reporting back, liaising with fosterers, working with feral colonies and homing cats. Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and see cases through to their conclusion are essential. You need to be confident in dealing with the public and be able to communicate with vets effectively.
This is a rewarding, hands-on opportunity to work with cats and their owners in the area. A knowledge of cats and their welfare would be beneficial but not essential, as full training will be given. Good communication skills, effective teamwork, regular access to email, transport and a mobile phone are essential. A camera will also prove to be useful.
Job Description – Welfare Assistant
You will work alongside the Welfare Officer, undertaking tasks similar to those listed in the Welfare Officer job description. The same qualities are required. The Welfare Officer will allocate cases to you as they come in to our helpline service.
Job Description – Fundraising Assistant
This is a role to work along side our Fundraising Officer to book, organise and staff some of our fundraising events throughout the year. You need to have good communication and people skills, have transport and to be online and with email. You will need to be pro-active in seeking out suitable events for CP to have a stall at; then along side the Fundraising Officer, book stalls, and then decide what kind of a stall is appropriate for each event. A rota must also be drawn up and staffed from our fundraising volunteers; sometimes it is necessary to set up/dismantle on the day, but not normally to man the whole event, unless you want to!
Job Description – Helpline Volunteer
Can you spare a few hours on the same day each week to dial into the Branch Helpline answering machine and return the calls from the comfort of your own home? You will then need to write up the calls and email the details to others in Rugby CP. Landline telephone costs can be met by the branch. You must have a telephone, a PC and email. A good telephone manner and the ability to deal with strangers confidently would be an advantage!
