A big thank you to everyone who has sent in Donations for ourTobias Project and have been touched by this very majestic photo of him. All these donations will definitely help us with our continued work to help and rehome unwanted cats and strays like Tobias. Sadly, Tobias was put to sleep a few weeks ago as he developed an infection that he could not fight off which affected his brain and his behaviour. As a stray, this is one fight he didn't win. We were all deeply upset by this, especially Tobias' fosterer who spent time sitting and talking with him so that he could possibly adjust to a new life with home comforts.
None of us will forget Tobias and he was such a grand and handsome cat that he will remain our 'Poster Cat' for this work as he is representative of so many strays, especially males, that are adopted as kittens and then wander because they are left unneutered and uncared for.
Our Project will continue in order to attract volunteers to help us in our work to fundraise and find new homes for all the cats in our care.
We have been unable to personally thank everyone that sent in a Donation for Tobias if you did not include your name and address.
Please remember that it is useful for us if you can do this.
Not only can we then thank you but we can also make sure that your Donation will qualify for Gift Aid meaning that we can a further 28p in every pound from the tax man!!
The Tobias Project
Tobias is a young stray cat that fell on hard times when he was obviously shut out as an older kitten.
Left unneutered and uncared for he had to rely on stealing food or being fed by kindly strangers.
He never lost his reliance on people but sometimes had to fight other cats (or be beat up himself) and shied away from people who were not kind to him. As a result, he is shy of people he doesn't know but will blossom in a home where he can rely on one person to look after him.
When he feels confident, he is a lap cat and a big softy.

Tobias represents a lot of stray cats that we find that need special care. We are encouraging all cat owners to get their cats neutered to protect them from wandering and unwanted kittens. If Tobias had been neutered he probably wouldn't now need to be an indoor cat.
St. Albans Cats Protection is also looking for a special Lost & Found volunteer fosterer who is interested in helping other strays like Tobias. We would like someone with a big garden where they could have two purpose built animal welfare standard foster pens. (All costs are paid for by CP).
Sometimes FOUND cats like Tobias are merely LOST and can easily be reunited with their owners especially if they have a microchip. Usually their stay in a Cats Protection pen is only 2-3 days. Other cats are not so lucky and we cannot find their owners. These cats need to stay in care for 14 days before we can rehome them again. Others like, Tobias, were booted out of their home as unneutered kittens so had to fight to survive and, as a result, need a bit more loving care to relax and find a new home.
If you are interested in providing a new home for cats like Tobias or in giving a donation for cats care, please contact us or download a Donation Form.
Also if you think you are the person who could commit to being our Lost & Found fosterer, please phone us for a chat.
