Our Branch ran a £5 neutering campaign last year from May to August whereby members of the public can get their cats neutered for only £5. Due to it’s popularity we have decided to run this again this year. This
applies to all cats, not only Cats Protection ones.

Every year Cats Protection has to find homes for 75,000 unwanted cats and kittens.

From the age of 6 months a healthy female cat can have up to 3 litters a year with 5 or 6 kittens per litter. That adds up to 18 good homes to find a year because of just 1 un-neutered cat. That 1 cat could be responsible for as many as 20,000 descendents in just 5 years, so owners who do not neuter their cats may unwittingly contribute to cats being abandoned in the future.
  • A female cat can be responsible for 20,000 descendants in just 5 years.
  • A neutered cat is less likely to catch feline leukaemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).
  • A neutered male cat is less likely to spray and less likely to wander than one that is un-castrated.
