Role Title: Lost and Found Cats Volunteer
Role Purpose: Cats Protection’s volunteers carry out the majority of its welfare work through a national network of over 250 groups. Each group maintains a register of lost and found cats in the local area to enable it to reunite stray cats that come into its care when possible.
Role Summary: This role provides an essential service for the group and the local community by maintaining a database of lost and found cats. They will liaise with and provide information for other members of the group, the local press and the microchip register companies as appropriate.
Experience/Skills/
Knowledge Required: Good organisational and communication skills will be important in this role, together with sound administrative and IT skills. Experience of working as part of a team and an ability to deal with sensitive or emotionally charged situations is also important.
Support and
Training Provided: Training and support will be provided by the group Coordinator and the Welfare Team leader and centrally, the Branch Support Unit can provide assistance. A wide variety of materials are developed and produced by the charity for use by the group and regular bulletins of advice and information are provided. CatNav (CP’s extranet) provides a resource for sharing and developing ideas.
Time commitment: This is a very flexible role and a commitment of 2-3 hours per week would not be unusual. We actively promote role sharing and this role could easily be split between two or more volunteers.
