JASPER

Jasper, formerly Trevor, happy at home!

title or description title or description title or description title or description

'How's about another update on Jasper (née Trevor)... He has completely come out of his shell, and is the softest, daftest beast I have ever known! He's definitely bulked up a bit, still having that stray cat appetite, but can get from one end of the house to the other in a split second mad dash. He waits ever so politely for our radio alarm clock to come on in the mornings before jumping up for his first cuddle of the day, and often puts his paws up on my face while I'm stroking him.
He and our little boy are getting on really well now too, Jasper lets Martin rub his tummy, and they very nearly curled up together for their afternoon nap today :-)
We kept him inside for an extra week, given his rather shaky start here, but he's happily going to and fro now, and looks a treat in the open air in the garden, especially chasing autumn leaves that match his fur!
Rehoming Jasper was one of the best things I've ever done :-) '

'More than happy for you to include Jasper - he's so much more of a success story than we could ever have hoped for!'

FIZZ & FREYA
(FORMERLY COURTNEY & HESTER)

title or description title or description title or description title or description title or description title or description

A selection of Fizz & Freya anecdotes that we have received since our young pair journeyed homewards! ...

'Update on Freya and Fizz (aka Hester and Courtney) - thriving and growing daily! Have developed big rumbly purrs. Met their new vet for 2nd innocs. the other week, v. well behaved. Currently enjoying the warm weather and the sunshine; have all the best spots for sunbathing around the house well mapped out :) '

'Fizz and Freya had their first birthday yesterday. Gorgeous, happy, lovely cats, we feel so lucky!'

'Something to help everyone get into a chilled-out mood for the weekend - our gorgeous Fizz, adopted just over a year ago. She and Freya have grown into beautiful, much-loved cats, make us smile every day :) '

'Called in at the shelter today and it was so good to see so many reserved notices! Hope 2012 brings safe, happy homes to many many more of our feline friends. Meanwhile it's great to watch ours chase the reflection of fairy lights in our living room window and bat at the (not-glass!) baubles on the tree! Life with a cat is never dull. :)
'

'Very happy for you to use anything I've posted here. As ours were kittens with a less traumatic story than some, they don't have a lot of history but they are a great advert for the benefits of adoption - they enrich our lives everyday.'

CALLY

title or description title or description title or description title or description title or description title or description

'Cally came home with us today. She's done some exploring, eaten some biscuits and here she is having a cuddle :)'

'Feel free to use Cally, can't type much more though as she is trying to sit on the keyboard! Think this is my cue to stop messing around on the laptop and pay her some attention :)'

TINKER & LUNAR
(FORMERLY EUNICE)

title or description

'This is Tinker and Lunar relaxing in front of the fire (a Christmas photo - why not?!). The only other time they don't argue is feeding time. However, since Tinker joined our house she has been a delight (and on occasions, a rascal)! Although not as friendly as Lunar, once Tinker gets to know you, she loves following us around the house, rolling on the floor and getting her head petted. She's like a whole new adorable cat - we can't imagine life without her now! Thank you CP for all the work you do!!'

'Happy for you to mention Tinker and Lunar if you want to. I think its important for people to know that rescue cats are very rarely problem cats at all and just want a good home :)'

SORREL

title or description

'We adopted Sorrel from you back in September, and she's very happy in her new home! Here she is exploring the living room and heading towards the window sill. I expected her to be nervous for the first few days, but she came out of the carrier and had a wander around the house almost straight away. Now she is pretty much in charge of the house ;) '

TEGAN

title or description title or description title or description title or description

(Clockwise from above)

'Tegan settling in'
'I love cat watching from here'
'Our lucky black cat, thinking if she should venture out into the big wild world outside.'
'Tegan doing a spot of knitting and getting warmed up!!'

MARINA

title or description

'Here's the lovely Marina doing what she does best! She's been with us for 6 or 7 weeks now and has taken on the job of being the boss of the house. She starts the day by waking us up by chirping as loud as she dares so that someone will eventually get up and open the back door for her to go out and beat up the local moggies! Aswell as being boss of the house, she is boss of the neighbourhood. After a spot of chasing off any cat that dares to enter the garden, it's time to come back in, have breakfast and then bed for the day! Then as soon as it gets dark, she ventures out again for a bit more terrorising of the enemies followed by worm/slug hunting. She then very kindly brings home whatever she has caught and leaves it to wriggle/crawl across the carpet. Lovely! But we love her to bits. She is not at all cuddly being a very independant lady but she is more than happy to sleep on our eldest daughters bed. It feels like she's been here forever - a very nice feeling indeed.'

CHARLIE (FORMERLY LEROY)

title or description

'Charlie with Yorkshire Tea - thinking of putting this onto a mug for work or turning into useful Christmas pressies.'

'Happy for you to include Charlie (was Leroy). From his history I don't think he was maltreated etc but I guess it shows that whatever happened cats are are willing to give us humans another chance. I can't imagine not having Charlie around now he brings so much joy even when he's being naughty (sitting on placemats on the dining table watching tv - naughty but extremely funny!)'

JOHN AND JEFF
(FORMERLY SEAMUS AND TRISTAN)

title or description title or description title or description title or description title or description title or description title or description title or description

'John and Jeffrey (formerly known as Tristan and Seamus) in their new home.... Bolder and braver than we imagined and lots of purring already.'

'John and Jeffrey - Day 2 in new home. Sticking together and still wary but comfy too. They have been enjoying midnight play sessions when we have gone to bed :-) and are eating well. Cuddles seem a long way off yet but looking forward to them when they do arrive :-)'

'John (Tristan) is the more lively and inquisitive one...He's definitely the boss :-) Jeffrey (Seamus) is very laid back. Managed to stroke John while he was eating today.'

'John is a cheeky, playful little dude who eats anything :-) he looks after his brother and has so much energy, initiating chasing games and enquiring into everything that goes on. He really has so much character and brings us lots of entertainment. Yeah, he is the great escape artist. Whenever he hears a door open, he is there!! Having to be very watchful as to his whereabouts each time we leave / come home. He doesn't miss a trick! Funny guy.'

'Jeff. The more chilled out brother. He is happy to sit around and watch John run around the place. Big softie but can hold his own when John starts to "box" him and play fight. Jeff has let us stroke him lots and is very relaxed here. He eats well but is happy to let John eat his treats - not that he gets much say in it :-) He is gorgeous.'

'Lots of nuzzling and cleaning each other. They also call out for each other if one is in a different room and meet in the middle. At night they spend hours chasing and playing.'

'2 happy boys. We have had them for 5 weeks now and they are receptive to strokes and tickles anytime of day and night. They are very bold and great characters. John has lots of 'dog like' traits to him :-) and Jeff is so chilled out, though boxes his brother good and proper when they play fight!'

'Yes had a great Christmas thankyou. The boys were thoroughly spoilt with treats! They are doing really well. Since July have taken each to the vets just once (fun and games in itself trying to get them in their cat box :-) for antibiotics for bad colds. Other than that they have been healthy, happy chaps. Both come a long way. We get lots of cuddles and Jeff sits on our lap. They follow us everywhere, as well as enjoying outdoors and terrorising the neighbourhood cats and we are convinced John is really a dog in disguise! Regular updates in the new year...'

ARIEL

title or description title or description

'Finally putting a picture of Ariel on here to let you all see how settled she is at her new home. She is a big bundle of love, much to our surprise as she was so grumpy when we fell in love with her at Cats Protection York. She loves belly tickles, cuddles and waking us up by sitting on our bedside cabinets and licking our noses! Home wouldn't seem right without her now :)'

'Here's another quick update on Ariel for all you lovely people at York Cats Protection. This is Ariel's new favourite place at the moment, she has FINALLY embraced the great outdoors and we can hardly get her to come in these days. She never ventures out of the garden as she attempted to climb the fence, which ended in her falling and getting rather a lot of bark stuck to her bum :D
'

SMOKEY

title or description title or description title or description

'Smokey. £1500 sofa and he thinks it's for him!'

'Smokey and his adoptive brother Peanut seem to have commandeered the bed and not left room for me. Shift up boys, make room for mummy.'

LILY

title or description title or description title or description

'This is Lily who has been sharing our home since the Autumn after adopting her from the Adoption Centre. This is her favourite position riding around on your neck whilst you're doing jobs around the house. She also likes sleeping at night on my wife's head.'

'Lily and her big housemate Otis. Lily doesn't seemed bothered about going out yet, but just likes to look! Otis is out all the time and can't seem to understand Lily at all!'

PRINCESS & LUCY

title or description title or description

'You can use Princess adopted by me & guy :)'

'Or Lucy. Princess was very cute and was always going to get adopted, but Lucy was overlooked for 6 months as she and her brother were born poorly. However 3 years on Lucy is now fit and healthy and doing well.'

'Our little princess, absolutely barmy & full of energy. Thank you for allowing us to adopt her :)'

'Yes it is Peasblossom, we renamed her to Princess as she's so precious and cute :) Awww she's so loving and bouncy, she fits right in with our other cats (ruling the house). I'll keep you posted as she grows.'

BECKFORD

title or description

'I know it was Black Cat Awareness Day yesterday but i only found out today and have got to include Beckford! - adopted from YCP 2 years ago now! As you can see he is still living the life of luxury but he now has a canine "friend" (Chip the dog - he is the same size as her!!) to keep under control, which he does in typical Bex style!'
