The Gateshead & District Branch About us We are
a small Branch, covering a large area from East to West - Hebburn through
to Gateshead (including, Whickham, Ryton, Winlaton, Blaydon, Crawcrook)
and also the area from
One of
the most direct ways that you could help would be to Adopt A Cat and, if you would like to offer a needy cat a much
deserved second chance in life, please take a look at our Rehoming section
and contact us.
Donations
and “Friends” scheme
We are
always very grateful for donations, whether large or small and you can
rest assured that any donations go directly to help the cats and kittens
in our care, paying for things such as veterinary care and food. Please
make cheques payable to: ‘Cats Protection Gateshead & District Branch’
and post to the address below.
You
could also become a “friend” of Gateshead & District and receive a
newsletter 6 times a year, as well as a certificate of friendship. The
most important thing, though, is that your membership subscription allows
the branch to go on feeding and treating the abandoned cats in Gateshead
& District. Please print off the form below and return it to us.
Volunteering
We are always looking for volunteers to help with our fundraising events. These are vital as we need to raise money throughout the year so that we can keep looking after the cats we take in. If you would like to help out at any of our events then please get in touch. It is always really good fun and you meet some really nice people.
If you would like to have ‘hands on involvement with the cats, why not think about Fostering? As we do not have a shelter for our rescued cats we need somewhere to home them until we can find permanent homes and that is where much needed foster parents come in. Fosterers are, therefore, invaluable as we cannot take in any cats without them! Cats
Protection will cover all the food, litter and veterinary costs for the
foster cat you have in your care. Fosterers can be provided with a purpose
built cat cabin for the cats to live, or fostering can be indoors provided
in a separate room. There are no financial rewards as we rely on support
from volunteers, but nothing is better than the feeling you have when one
of your foster cats finally gets a new family of their very own to love
them!
If you’re interested in this but aren’t sure it’s for you, just let us know and we’ll be happy to discuss it with you properly before you decide. Please remember, we simply cannot help any cats without fosterers willing to care for them for a little while.
Now
though, Freddie has a nice new home with owners who love him and with
other cats for company.
If you could help other cats like Freddie by taking them in and looking
after them when no-one else cares about them, please call
us.

You will be helping cats like Queenie, who was going to be put down as part of a ‘pest control’ exercise.
