Oh dear – we moved the date from May to June this year in the hope warm and sunny weather – and it turned out to be worse than last year – such a disappointment after 8 weeks of glorious sunshine to be hit by grey skies and the rain which only got worse as the day went on. Although visitor numbers were slightly down, I think everyone who did brave the weather and come along to support us was pleased with the variety of goods on offer and the opportunity to see some of the lovely cats. Several home visits were booked and so although we don’t yet have final figures for our takings or the number of cats homed, we feel it was a worthwhile occasion and I hope you did too. Our planning starts in earnest now for our big annual Open Day on Sunday 4th September – surely the sun will shine for that! Full details of the entertainments and activities planned for the Open Day will be added to the Events page as we get organised, (we have some new “acts” planned for the entertainments arena as well!) but make sure you have the date firmly in your diary and please come along and support us. Our celebrity guest this year will be popular BBC South East television presenter Rob Smith (who has two cats called Vic and Bob!) and we are hoping everyone will come along to support us on what is our biggest fundraising event of the year.
