REHOMING YOUR CAT THROUGH CP..
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION TO HELP US HELP YOU!
Please also read the article What to do if you need to rehome your cat! - Click here to read it
To enable us to help you home your cat please give us as much information as possible about the cat - making sure to be very honest about the details of their character, preferences, health, etc. as that will go a long way to ensuring the cat goes to the right home for their needs.
Here are some points to include
- Your full contact details (including an email address if possible)
- Let us know if your cat is a previous rescue or CP. We will always advise you contacting the rescue you adopted the cat from before contacting other rescues. Of course if this is not local then you will need to make contact with the rescue or branch nearest to you. For a list of CP branches throughout the UK please check out the listings on www.cats.org.uk
- Name and age of the cat
- Colour, long or short haired, and breed, if it is a pedigree
- Provide a good photograph too (this really does help!). When you send photos send them separately in jpg format, not in the body of the text, as it makes it difficult to upload to our website
- Cat's background and general health
- Why you need to rehome puss (you don't need to go into personal details, but it helps to have an idea of the circumstances)
- Cat's likes and dislikes
- Character; is puss a lap cat or an independent soul?
- Does puss get on well with children, other cats or dogs?
- Is puss an indoor or an outdoor cat?
- Is puss up to date with vaccinations? Is he/she neutered? Microchipped?
Once these details are received (usually by email), we can then put your cat on our waiting list to come into our care. Like most rescue organisations we have a list of people wanting to adopt a cat and sometimes a 'match' can be made quite quickly. People who contact the us enquiring about adopting a cat will be advised of any cats who might suit their home environment. This is why it is important to give as much detail as possible about your cat's character. For example we wouldn’t rehome an elderly cat that dislikes dogs to a home with a resident dog.
What Will Happen Next?
When a space becomes available we will contact you and arrange a date for your cat to be signed over to our care for rehoming. The information you have supplied for us will be used on our website. .
Things To Remember
Neutering: All cats that come into our care that are old enought to be neutered wll be before being rehomed. If you are unable to afford to neuter your cat we can help with the cost by supplying a neutering voucher and this can be done while the cat is on our waiting list.
Vaccinations and Microchips: All cats that come into CP care will be vacinnated before being rehomed. If you have an up to date valid vaccinations certificate this will help grately with rehoming. If your cat is not up to date with vaccinations then will we do this but we would ask a donation to help with the cost.. If you cat is microchipped then please do let us know.
Donations: Like all Cats Protection branches we rely solely on volunteers and donations - so both finances and resources are often stretched to the limit. Donations toward care of a cats in our care is much appreciated.
If you find a Home for Puss Yourself: Then please let us know as soon as possible. Not only will you be saving our time and resources, and we can then move onto another cat on our "to come in" list.
