How you can help

Minstrel aka Dennis

Hi Sandra and Friends,

I thought that I would let you know how the wee chap is doing since I collected him on the 26th November.

Dennis was very wary initially so I decided to keep him in a small room at first so that he would not be overwhelmed. He had a tendency to hiss whenever I came into the room but would then be affectionate once he realised that I was not threatening him and especially if I had food for him. He is a very hungry kitten! I had some trouble with him having a wobbly tum for quite a while at first so I did take him to the vet for a check up and put him onto the Hills ID food for cats with troubled digestion. He was also given worming granules in case he was carrying a parasite. That appears to have settled down now although I do think he tends to a sensitive tum.

It has been so lovely watching him come out of his shell and learn to trust both me and his environment. He does not hiss any more and comes running up to me when I come into his room now for either his food or to play or for a cuddle. He is now in a large room with my pet birds (to let him get used to them) and loves playing with his toys and anything else that comes to hand (paw). He climbs into my lap whenever I sit down with him and purrs happily. He is the most affectionate little soul. I am very pleased to have him and grateful to you all for allowing me to give him a home. I am hoping to give him the run of the house over the Christmas holiday period when I can supervise him and his meetings with my older cat. They do meet every day but I am taking the introduction slowly and keeping their time together to short episodes for the moment. The great thing is that the kitten is confident with the older cat, which makes things easier.

Thanks again for letting me take care of Dennis.

I hope that you have a lovely Christmas with not too many homeless waifs coming through the doors.

With best wishes,

Pam McNicol,
