Welcome to Cats Protection
Corby and District Cats Protection is your new local branch dedicated to the welfare of the cats and kittens of Corby, Kettering and surrounding areas. We will be covering the NN14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 postcodes. We will also try to cover Market Harborough, Cottingham, Wilbarston, Middleton, Great Easton and surrounding areas.
We do not have a centre where the cats are kept - all our cats are looked after by fosterers in their own homes, usually in a pen in their garden. Every member of staff in the branch is a volunteer; we have no paid members of staff at branch level, so please bear this in mind when contacting us. It may take several days before the relevant person has time to ring you back, and this will only happen if we can help you.
Kittens!
It appears we are into 'kitten season' and have several kittens that will be available in early to mid-May, plus 3 pregnant mums due to deliver in late April/early May, whose kittens will be available early to mid July. If you will be looking for a kitten why not register your interest and get your home visit done now so, when the kittens are ready, you would be able to take the one you love home straight away?
Volunteers
Corby is steadily growing and unfortunately so is the amount of cats and kittens needing your help. Helping animals is such a worthwhile thing to do with your spare time. You can make a difference to a poor down-on-its-luck cat that's hungry and cold. You can help it to find warmth, food and a new loving home. Now how would that make you feel? I know that it is a very rewarding experience. So go on - check out our
Volunteer page to see what you can do to help!
Stray and unwanted cats
Unfortunately, the branch is full at present and we are unable to take in any cats until pen space becomes available. We do have a list of cats waiting to come into care but the wait varies according to the time of year. You are welcome to ring the helpline for advice, especially if the stray appears very old, young, ill, pregnant or has kittens, as these will take priority over more healthy adult cats. If you can continue to feed and water your stray, as well as providing some shelter, we would be very grateful.
If the cat is owned but unwanted, we may be able to help with our Direct Rehoming service. Please check out the Direct Rehoming page
here.
Branch Meeting
Our meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month at the Spread Eagle in Cottingham Rd, Corby at 7.30pm. It's a very informal meeting and everyone is welcome to come along. If you would like to know more about volunteering please come and talk to us!
