Success stories 2

Hello everyone!

My new Mummy & Daddy (Mandy & Karl) thought it was about time they sent you some pictures of me in my new house!  I was called Aston when I stayed with you, but now I am called Bentley!  I like it, it sounds very grand.

I have been quite brave since I came to my new home, I follow Mummy and Daddy around, purr like crazy and roll over so they can give me a belly rub – I love it!  I have finally sat on Mummy and Daddy’s laps, but mostly sit and sleep beside them on the sofa and put my paws and head against them.  I’m sure it won’t take me long to become a proper lap kitty though.

I have several toys, but my two favourites are a cat teaser with a long yellow tail and the other is a very long piece of string with a huge knot in the end that I carry around in my teeth.  When Mummy holds the other end I lead the way and take her for a walk around the house!  Daddy turned a big box into a “hidey-hole” for me so I can peep out of my little windows, and I often have a snooze in there too.

Mummy and Daddy tell me I’m incredibly handsome, cute and funny and that they are really honoured and lucky to have me – I’m not sure yet what that means exactly, but they make me very happy as I purr so much, and I know they love me very much too.

I like to sit on the window sills looking outside so I can see what is waiting for me when I’m old enough to go out, but in the meantime I am keeping Mummy and Daddy on their toes as I love playing and running around the house and making them laugh.

Thank you all for looking after me and caring for me during my stay with you, but I am happy to say I love my new forever home and I am going to stay here – forever!

Lots of Love, Bentley xx

Shadow

MOLLY

Hello to all the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Dereham Adoption Centre!
We adopted Molly (previously Smudge) from you at the end of May, and have loved every minute with her so far. She's so affectionate, and we just love our daily snuggles. Despite having a total of three cat beds Molly chooses to sleep with us at night, and seems very happy with that arrangement! She settled in very quickly, and in the past few weeks has started venturing out of the garden - not too far however, as a noisy lawnmower sends her running back inside pretty sharpish!

We'd like to say a big thank you to all the staff and volunteers at the centre for all your work. We absolutely love our Cats Protection kitty, and should Molly decide she would like a playmate, we'll be back!

Caroline, Adam and Molly.

MABLE

Mabel has settled in really well, the first day she came home she wandered round the house, upstairs and downstairs, then settled on the sofa as if to say ‘well, this will do!’ She goes in and out of the cat-flap, though prefers to be indoors, she never attempts to go over the fence (I was worried that she might). She sleeps most of the time, either on the bed or in her little basket underneath the radiator. She always comes to bed with me; as soon as I go upstairs, she follows and settles down for the night. She is extremely sweet natured, loves to sit on anyone’s lap, and is not frightened by anything, noises, people she has not met before etc. She must have had a home where she was used to people, and | am surprised that someone gave up such a kind little cat, saying that I am glad that they did as I am very pleased to have her. She is booked into the cattery when I go away in the summer, which I hope she will like, it is a cattery I have used in the past and the lady who runs it is very kind, I hope Mabel will look on it as her little holiday! She has put on a little weight and her coat is very glossy, she likes most cat food but her favourite is tuna, which she has about once a week.
Love Mabel and Jane

WOLFIE

Wolfie was returned back to us due to having such a strong character and upsetting other cats in the house, he has been homed again and is now very happy and settled in his new home.

                          WILLOW

We have named our kitten , Willow. She purrs very loudly and is playful and affectionate, the whole family adore her and we are all very happy.

ISIS & CERIDWEN

Just wanted to let you know how the cats I adopted were getting on, it's been just over two years since I picked up Isis and her daughter Ceridwen. Two months later, Isis escaped and vanished for six weeks, she was later found at death's door in a garage a short way from where I live. Fortunately, she's made a full recovery and her wanderings also allowed Ceri to grow up a lot. Both cats now divide their time sleeping on my furniture and exploring the outside world. Ceri went out first and almost a year later Isis began to wander, they're both healthy and happy and have even gotten used to a new arrival in my household, my guide dog Unis! Ceri rules the roost and loves to follow Unis and I as we walk around my estate, she also wakes me promptly every morning and is very VERY vocal. Isis, on the other hand, is much more laid back; she likes to curl up on her chair or my bed and watch the world. Her favourite things include headbutting me and reminding me who I belong to. All in all, we're all very happy together and the cats are loving life

SAPPHIRE

Sapphire has settled in beautifully, and has become a typical 'kid sister' to Charlie and Cola who we adopted from you last year! They weren't quite sure what to make of her when she first arrived, but she has befriended them and now they enjoy eating and playing together!

Sapphire's first week was spent in Sam's bedroom, and we progressively moved the litter tray downstairs. She gradually explored the house and since donning her new collar, has ventured out in the garden, but not beyond it as yet! She has grown steadily, and now 'talks' and miaows like a proper cat rather than a baby mew!
Sapphire was fascinated when Charlie brought back a dead rabbit the other day, and kept sniffing and batting at it! It was almost as big as her.

She loves watching the birds from the back door step, and chatters to them. One of her favourite games is tug of war with a shoe lace suspended from the washing line, but she also loves little plastic balls, and is constantly chasing all the insects flying around!  She has just started climbing trees - I have attached a photo of her sitting in the maple tree!

Her latest achievement is mastering the cat flap which is magnet controlled. She still struggles a little but with much scraping and scrabbling, can go in and out - we always know when she's coming though because of the noise of her coming through. She hasn't quite worked out that she needs to use her nose and get her body weight behind it to push the door!

I have attached a couple of pictures of Sapphire enjoying her new home, and will try to remember to send more as she grows.
Thank you for letting us adopt her - she has become a wonderful addition to our family!

with kind regards
Caroline Hogan
