I feel so much younger
“Three weeks ago I moved out of the Cats Protection at Longham accompanying two kittens called Yogi and Boo Boo (alias Whin and Burgh) who were off to start a new life with a little boy called Charlie. I had been taken into care myself in mid August and spent the following days considering prospective visitors carefully for somebody who I felt would look after me in a manner which would befit an old gent of 12 and would allow me to spend my remaining years in peace. Well I found a wonderful family but time will tell if the peace I craved will be a reality as I have found a new lease of life and feel several years younger living with the two five month old ‘bears’. We were collected three weeks ago and taken about 15 miles to our new home. I have had a brief trip back to Longham for my second vaccination and we all had a trip to the vets to be introduced to our new doctor who we understand has looked after the family pets for years. Nice doc and the kittens got some free sample biscuits and flea treatment. Not sure why I didn’t get any food samples other than I have to watch my weight. My ‘see food’ diet has to be controlled you know as I just love everything. “
Checking out the neighbourhood
“To aid our return, should we roam, we all now have lovely reflective collars on with our names and contact details attached.
I’m allowed to explore a little further than they are and have found a lovely garden next door if I want a little peace and quite and an afternoon nap. Oh I’m dreaming again, I’m not to stay too long though as we are only allowed out when there is a responsible adult about.
I find that I am collected regularly from the neighbour’s. Just checking out the neighbourhood in anticipation of the young ones being let further a field in the future. Can’t wait for the cat flap to be unlocked so that we can explore without supervision and use the outside facilities when there is a call of nature.”
Discipline !
You know being a special ‘Uncle’ is quite an honour and a huge responsibility. But I have taken it in my stride and I find that the “firm but gentle approach” is the best. Its reward is cuddles and quality time with Yogi and Boo Boo either snoozing or play fighting. Yogi is a dab hand at play fighting and Boo Boo likes her cuddles. And I just love cuddles and kisses.
Detective Yogi

A good detective leaves no stone unturned, well this is just the philosophy of Yogi. Inch by inch he is exploring the outside – smelling the paving slabs and weeds for vital clues but as you will find out his sister Boo Boo had the best find of the week.
Frog alert
Nothing prepared this little kitten for a frog in the garden. A quick leap and it was safely out of reach of the inquisitive Boo Boo. She likes her food but doesn’t fancy frogs legs just yet. She’s sticking to kitten food for a while longer.
And finally to bed………
Charlie had made the kittens a den out of a cardboard box and decorated it welcoming us to our new home. There was a little hole at the front, well not so little as I camped in the den on the first night. Yogi and Boo Boo found it more comfortable in a make shift bed made from an old drawer unit and an old sheet for bedding. Since then though we have found futons, poufee, chairs and beds far more appealing. We get to spend quite a lot of the time in the fresh air running around and are allowed to go everywhere in the house as well now, so by the time it’s dark outside we are fast asleep secure in our new home.
……. But before we do – THANK YOU
I have to say a big thank you to you at CP Longham for looking after Yogi, Boo Boo and me so well until we found this great home. Thanks also from our new family who have worked very hard to help us settle in.
