The judges for the overall 'Cat of the Year' for this year's National Cat Awards have been announced. Find out more about our celebrities below.
Paul has appeared in ITV’s Downton Abbey
as Mr Mason and BBC1’s Last Tango in Halifax
as Harry. He has been involved in a number of plays on BBC Radio and plays the eccentric father in the Radio 4 series Tom Wrigglesworth’s Hang Ups
. Recently, Paul appeared in the BBC1 drama Broken
as Joe Kerrigan and he will be appearing in ITV’s Doc Martin
this autumn as Walter O’Donnell. Paul has a cat called Chea and has judged at previous National Cat Awards.
Author, critic, scriptwriter and broadcaster Andrew Collins is currently Film Editor of Radio Times
and presenter of Saturday Night at the Movies
on Classic FM. As a journalist he has edited Empire
, and currently writes for The Guardian
. He hosted shows on BBC Radio 6 Music for over 10 years and co-wrote BBC1 comedy Not Going Out
with Lee Mack. Andrew judged the Most Caring Cat category in 2016 and helped us to launch this year’s call for entries!
Charlotte is one of Britain’s leading clay-target shooters. She won a Gold medal in the double trap at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, two golds at the 2006 Commonwealth games and another at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She was part of the British team that won the team trap event at the 2015 World Championship. Charlotte judged the Outstanding Rescue Cat category in 2016.
James is lead guitarist and vocalist for pop band The Vamps. He started his career uploading covers on YouTube before helping to found The Vamps in 2012. The band has since recorded two best-selling albums, Meet the Vamps and Wake Up and released a third album in July called Night and Day. James owns a ginger cat called Mickey and judged the Furr-ever Friends category in 2016.
Sarah Fisher and Anthony Head
Sarah is a Tellington TTouch instructor and runs the TTouch Centre for the UK. TTouch is a specialised approach to the care, handling and training of animal companions. Anthony is an actor whose TV appearances include playing Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, while film credits include playing Nigel in A Streetcat Named Bob! They judged at the awards in 2014.
Jo is the UK’s best-known celebrity psychologist and has appeared on This Morning
and Sky News
, as well as being Good Morning Britain’s
Jo contributes regularly to Grazia
and Marie Claire
. Jo runs a private relationship counselling practice and says her cat Louis is often a calming influence on her clients! Jo presented the Purina Better Together award in 2016
Actress Anita Dobson is best known for playing Angie Watts in BBC1’s EastEnders
while her other credits include the BBC’s Casualty
and Hotel Babylon.
She reached Number 4 in the UK singles chart with ‘Anyone can fall in love’ and appeared in many West End productions including playing Madame Morrible
. Anita judged the Hero Cat
category at last year’s National Cat Awards.
