Welcome to Cats Protection Glasgow Adoption Centre

We’re here to support cats and kittens in Glasgow, centred on postcodes G60, G61, G62, G64, G65, G66, G67, G68, G69 and G71 but also covering the whole of Glasgow and the surrounding areas.

Run by a passionate, cat-loving team led by our manager Kim, we’re dedicated to improving the lives of cats and kittens in Glasgow, working to find loving new homes for local cats in our care, offering support with neutering and lost and found cats, as well as general education and awareness within the Glasgow area. You can find out more about the work of Cats Protection here.

This YouTube video, featuring our cat carer Andy, gives you an insight into the work we do 365 days a year.

During lockdown, when members of the public could no longer drop in and visit the cats, we discovered that the cats coming into our care settled more quickly and all cats were generally happier, so now most of the adoption process is carried out online and over the phone so that we can leave the cats to enjoy a calmer, more peaceful environment.

Cat adoption in Glasgow

Cat adoption in Glasgow

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in Glasgow? During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship.

Cats available for adoption are featured below. To express your interest in a particular cat, please click the 'enquire about' button on their individual listing. We read through all the applications and if you’re found to be a great match for your chosen cat, we will contact you via phone or email and go over the cat's history and medical status with you.

Our Glasgow Adoption Centre (G66) is the admissions centre for all the cats relinquished into our care. It is where they receive the important veterinary care needed before they go up for adoption. This centre is open by appointment only.

Our Glasgow South Homing Centre (G41) houses our cats that are available for adoption and is open Wednesday to Monday, 11am to 3pm, and closed on Tuesdays.

If you are keen to adopt we would always recommend that you register your interest online, to make sure that we have the perfect moggy-match before your visit - please email us at: enquiries@glasgow.cats.org.uk

If you live in rented accommodation, we require written permission from your council/landlord to keep a cat.  We would recommend having this in place before applying for a cat.

Once you have reserved your cat, you’ll be sent the adoption paperwork via email, along with lots of useful information about settling your new cat into your home. We will also ask for proof of address at this time. The adoption fee is £100 per cat and £120 per kitten. This can be paid by cash or card at the Adoption Centre when you come to collect your feline friend.

Once this is finalised, we will arrange an appointment time for you to collect your cat. Most cats ready for homing are in our Glasgow South Homing Centre. On arrival, one of our Cat Care Assistants will sit with you to discuss the information sent to you and answer any questions you may have. Our reception area is fairly small, so we ask for limited people at the appointment.

You’ll receive a follow up call a few days after the adoption to make sure everything is going well and for us to answer any questions you may have. We will contact you again a few weeks after adoption by email to make sure your new cat has settled in. If you need us at any other times, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email.  You can also find help and advice on the Cats Protection website at www.cats.org.uk/advice

Lost and found cats in Glasgow

To report a lost or found cat in the Glasgow area, please call us on  0141 779 3341, or email us at enquiries@glasgow.cats.org.uk. You can also message the details to us on our Lost and Found Facebook page

Lost a cat? We’re here to help you. We can add your cat to our Lost & Found Facebook page & check to see if any cats are a possible match. Email us some clear photos which show your cat's colour and markings. We also need these details:

  • Your name, address & phone number.
  • Your cat's name & the date & time your cat went missing.
  • If they had a collar on and what colour it is.
  • Are they microchipped with contact details up to date?
  • Tell us if they are neutered or not.
  • Let us know if this out of character for them.

We will only publish your street name in the appeal and none of the other personal details.

Found a cat? Please email us full details, as above and let us know where and when the cat was found and how long it has been around and include a photo.

Please consider if the cat is definitely lost or if it could belong to a neighbour. Cats are free roaming, inquisitive creatures, who like to explore their neighbourhood. If the cat is unwell or injured, please call the SSPCA on: 03000 999 999
