It’s so good to hear about cats who, despite their tragic or traumatic past, find new, happy and settled homes with people who not only take great care of them, but love them to bits! Next are just such reports or stories from the Glasgow Adoption Centre about some of these cats.

HOME VISITS

Hi,

My name is Angela Denney and, along with my family (husband Ian and children John & Joanne), have just adopted a gorgeous three year old white tabby cat called ‘Tigger’ (old name Trigger), from the Cats Protection at the Glasgow Adoption Centre (formerly Kirkintilloch).

Sadly and suddenly we lost our own beloved cat of sixteen and a half years called Mindy who took ill and was put to sleep. As a family we are all animal lovers and we were keen to replace Mindy with another cat as soon as possible.

One of our relatives has already adopted a cat from the Centre, so we decided to visit the Cats Protection Centre. I obtained the information from their website, www.cats.org.uk/glasgowac and contacted them to ask if we could visit the cats at the Centre. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome. Meeting the vast selection of cats looking to be re-homed made our choice very difficult, but after a short while we chose ‘Tigger’.

An appointment was booked for a home visit from the staff which was very prompt. Fabianna and Claire who came to visit myself were very friendly and approachable making me feel at ease. We sat and chatted for about forty minutes. They introduced themselves and asked very relative and important questions, giving the cat’s brief history, including vaccinations and pet plan insurance. They also covered the initial first few days of bringing the cat home, feeding, toileting, having a scratch pole etc. Information was  given on registering with the local vet and care when on holiday. Then when the girls were satisfied that everything was in order from suitable surroundings (including the garden), registration forms were duly signed and information leaflets given out. I felt that all the questions I raised were satisfactorily answered as both the girls were well informed.
I then made an appointment to pick up our adopted cat.Tigger
I was encouraged by the staff to phone or email anytime between the hours of 11am and 3pm if I had any queries and they would be willing to help.

In conclusion I can say without doubt that the Cats Protection is a wonderful and very caring charity.
All the cats receive the best of care,
especially our ‘Tigger’ who has settled in very well and now has his own place to call home while being very well loved.

Best wishes,

Angela Denney and family, including Tigger
