Calling all cat lovers!!!!
We are looking for more volunteers to help expand our work across Hornchurch, Upminster, Cranham and the immediate area (that’s RM11,RM12, RM13, RM14 and parts of RM15). This is an exciting but challenging time – would you like to be part of it?
‘Give a little time – make a big difference’
A number of our volunteers currently multi-task are at full stretch so we are looking for new people to help spread the load. Could this be you? Would you like to get up close and personal with our feline friends? Or would you prefer something that fits round your availability?
Are you a ‘hands on’ cat person?
We are always looking for fosterers (see below) whether you have space in your garden for a pen or a spare room. And temporary fosterers who can take on emergencies admissions for up to a few days.
Do you have a car? There are always cats in need of transportation, to and from vets and to new homes. We are looking for welfare assistants to improve our current coverage of the area. And if you can get out and about in the area, perhaps a role as a homing officer would suit you, visiting potential new owners about taking on a feline companion.
Perhaps you would prefer more of a support role?
Essential to our work is fundraising. We receive no grants or funding – we are entirely self financing. Would you be able to help at any of our events – perhaps just once or twice a year. Or maybe you would like to organise an event for us – special nights out, musical events, pub quizzes, pamper evenings are always popular. Perhaps you are a car boot person or would run a stall for us?
Are you creative or have good communication skills? Then how about joining our publicity team? You will provide that essential link between the branch and local people to help us spread the word. Do you have experience working with local media – news and radio teams? Or are you a budding writer who could contribute stories for our newsletter and website or even take on the role of newsletter editor. Perhaps you could be one of our local ambassadors, liaising with local businesses and services in your area, distributing posters and leaflets – we are looking to build a team across the area.
For more information about any of these roles, read on, or contact us on
hornchurchcats@yahoo.co.uk with your telephone number and we’ll arrange for a one of the team to give you a call.
More about.... Fosterers
Cat caring is a vital role at our branch – the more fosterers we have, the more cats we can care for! And it is also one of the most rewarding roles. As fosterers you will be the surrogate mum or dad for cats on their way to loving and permanent new homes. You will have satisfaction of restoring a little cat’s faith in the world. And even though it is sometimes sad to say goodbye when a cat leaves for its new life, you know that you have given it a chance it wouldn’t otherwise have had.
We will pay all the costs of fostering and cat care, whether you want to be:
• An indoor fosterer and set aside a spare room (or two) for a rescued cat;
• And emergency fosterer with a spare room that can be used for up to a few days but at short notice; or
• An outdoor fosterer and have a specially designed outdoor cat pen erected in your garden.
Each individual cat pen is 10’ long and 3’3” wide. It has a heated sleeping pod and a run area so will need a concrete base and electricity supply. We will arrange and pay for all the work and supplies.
Are you that special person with time and love to give away?
Whatever role best suits, this is a big commitment, for you and for the branch. Please give it careful consideration.
If you would like to receive further information then please contact us by email using the Contact Us enquiry form. If you are still interested after digesting all the facts, then we will put you in touch with our Branch Co-ordinator for a chat and to arrange a visit at your home.
