Adopt a cat

Did you know that Cats Protection rehomed over 55,000 cats and kittens last year? The Lichfield and Tamworth branch is just one small (but significant!) part of this.

Your local branch currently covers Lichfield and Tamworth. This includes the following postcodes: WS13, WS14, B77, B78, B79. We are also now covering small part of DE13 (please note: just the area between Lichfield and Yoxall - the rest of this area is covered by Burton-on-Trent branch). If you live outside of these areas, check for your local midlands branch.

Take a look at our gallery of cats, currently being cared for by the Lichfield and Tamworth branch, below.  These are cats and kittens currently seeking a loving and caring new home. Cats and kittens come in to our care every week, so there may be more new cats not on our gallery yet also seeking a new home.

We welcome adoptions from outside of our area but will require a homing visit to be carried out.

If you would like to genuinely adopt any of the cats featured, then please use the Contact Us page to find out how to get in touch with us by phone or e-mail. When contacting us to enquire about homing a cat, please tell us a little about your circumstances:

  • Do you live on a quiet street and do you have a garden?
  • Please confirm that you live in the area covered by our branch (see above)?
  • Are there young children at home?
  • Do you already have another pet that the cat would need to get along with?
  • Please always include a contact telephone number - we need to call you to have an initial chat to you. Landlines are preferred, as they helps our volunteers to keep their costs down, but a mobile is fine if that is the best way to get in touch with you.  Please be assured that we will never put any pressure on you at any stage of the homing.

If you are enquiring generally about homing a cat, rather than asking about a specific cat on our site, please also let us know if you are seeking a kitten, young cat or older cat? male or female cat etc?  This helps us to help you - thank you!

For more information about the homing process, please visit the Adopt A Cat section on the main Cats Protection website. For information about your forthcoming home visit please see our leaflet "Having a Home Visit".

Please Note: if you are living in rented accommodation you will need to provide written permission signed by your landlord on headed notepaper agreeing to you adopting a cat prior to a homing visit being carried out. emails or texts are not acceptable.

As with all Cats Protection branches, since October 2010, Lichfield and Tamworth Cats Protection charges an 'Adoption Fee' at the point of homing a cat.

Lichfield and Tamworth branch current Adoption Fee is £60 per cat or kitten. This fee helps us to pay for the care of the cat or kitten, whilst we were looking after him or her, and covers the costs of food, bedding, litter, vet bills, vaccinations, neutering/spaying and microchipping.

We welcome any additional donations too from new owners. Thank you for your support!

Some of the cats in our care may not yet be on our website. If you are looking for a feline companion, please contact us on 0345 371 2741
