CATS GO TO FOOTBALL – IN PERSON!

Not satisfied with having a large yellow banner at Windsor football ground two enterprising you felines went collecting at the recent Boxing Day home game. A pretty brown kitty and a white Siamese (aka Karen and Veronica) joined forces with Scotty the Stag, the Windsor FC mascot to patrol the ground and try to persuade supporters to part with their loose change.

It was hard going, as the visibility inside the large heads is very limited and it is difficult to hand out badges and cat masks using only ‘paws’. However, undaunted the feline pair did a complete circuit of the ground and spent some time loitering near the refreshment stands and the turnstiles. They also visited the bar, where they were lucky not to be chased out – the usual fate of stray cats!!

It was fun and definitely raised awareness for Cats Protection. We had many interesting comments, but the crowd were very well behaved and didn’t pull ears or tails too much – it was all very good natured! However, we didn’t raise much money.

Even although the Club had made it a ‘free admission’ game and there were over 800 supporters, the two hard working cats only collected £57, a little disappointing, but better than nothing! Obviously no one has any money after the Xmas festivities. For those who follow the fortunes of Windsor FC, the team won 4 – 2.
