These celebrities helped us launch our ‘I’m a celebrity…Let me volunteer!’ campaign to raise awareness of the fantastic work the charity’s dedicated army of over 8,000 volunteers do every day across the UK and to encourage more people to volunteer.
Sam Fox – Eighties glamour icon Sam Fox gave up her free time to spend the afternoon at the charity’s National Cat Adoption Centre in Sussex helping to socialise cute kittens, feed the cats and even clean out some litter trays. “I could have taken all the cats home but, as I have four already, I thought I’d better not!” she said.

Kim Woodburn – How Clean is Your House star Kim joined Sam at the National Cat Adoption Centre. “This place is amazing and the people here do a brilliant job of looking after the cats,” she said. “I’ve been to houses that haven’t been as nice as this – even I could live in one of these pens as they are so clean!”

Steve Miller – The star of Sky One’s Fat Families and owner of three cats helped the charity’s volunteer-run Stourbridge and District branch. While there, he visited the home of a cat fosterer where he fed cats, cleaned cat pens and helped an overweight cat called Tiger to get some exercise as part of her weight control programme. He also helped out in the charity shop where he stacked shelves, sorted clothes and served customers.

Rick Wakeman – Former member of the rock band Yes and solo artist Rick adopted his cat, George, from Cats Protection in Bury St Edmunds several years ago. To show his support to the branch, he spent the day helping with many of the routine daily tasks including cleaning out the pens, feeding the cats and spending ‘social time’ with them. Rick said: “When my wife and I adopted our cat, we were really impressed by the hard work and enthusiasm of the volunteers, so when I was asked to support this campaign I was thrilled to take part.”
