Adorable abandoned kittens found by Longleat Rangers

A litter of kittens found under an oak tree on the Longleat Estate are being looked after at Cats Protection’s Mere and Gillingham Branch. The five kittens were discovered in May after their mother approached the Estate’s Rangers looking for food. One of the rangers, Stacey Lee, was concerned about the family of cats and contacted the local Cats Protection branch for advice. Sandy Hugglestone, local Branch co-ordinator of the Mere and Gillingham Branch, collected the mother and her five kittens and cared for them until they were old enough to be rehomed.
Sandy commented: "We tried to find Ranger 7’s owners but as she was not microchipped, we were unable to trace them."
In the meantime, Stacey continued to visit the cats at the centre. She said: "I had become very attached to the mother cat, who we named Ranger 7 as we are a team of six rangers. I adopted Ranger 7 and Pebbles, one of the kittens."
Luckily, all of the kittens have now been rehomed, although Cats Protection’s Mere and Gillingham branch are keen to express the importance of neutering. Sandy said: "We would urge owners to get their pet cats neutered as they are such prolific breeders. Just one unneutered cat can produce up to 18 offspring in a year, so neutering will help to prevent more unwanted kittens like these in the future."
