Tagpuss - needs your help!

A collaboration between the School of Computer Science and the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Lincoln has resulted in an online interactive site called "Tagpuss". The aim of the site is to encourage members of the public to describe how they believe a cat is feeling by pairing descriptions of emotions with photographs of cats.

In recent years it has become more accepted that animals experience emotions, however emotional states in animals are not yet well investigated or described. Understanding how people perceive animals to be feeling can be a valuable area of scientific investigation within this field and this site is believed to be the first attempt to gather information from the general public on this topic.

You can assist the project by visiting the site and tagging the pictures you see with the adjectives you believe fit the cat’s feelings. There are over 2,000 images that appear in random order so feel free to tag as many or as few as you want.

The data will collected in mid August and the results will be posted on the website from early October. You can follow Tagpuss on Twitter for updates. www.tagPuss.com
