Lucky
From Amersham, Buckinghamshire

Amersham cat Lucky earned both his name and a place in the final after going through the ordeal of a three-day, 280-mile journey while trapped under a car bonnet.
His owners, Audrey Plumpton and her husband, were on holiday in Brittany, France and had noticed a colony of feral cats and kittens near the cottage they were staying in. It wasn’t until they arrived home, however, that they heard his cries and came to his aid. After paying for his six-month quarantine, they were only too happy to give him a home – Lucky indeed!

Noah
From Methley, Leeds

One-year-old Noah was just minutes away from drowning after the village of Methley near Leeds was hit by the severe floods of 2007.
When Julia Malloch, and her daughter saw him and two other stray kittens being saved from a floating branch in a flooded field by some teenagers on a makeshift raft, they knew they wanted to give him a home. Noah was the only name they could give him! Despite his traumatic start to life, a year later, he is a happy, healthy cat.

Mia
From Northampton

Photo: UNP
Two-year-old Mia came all the way from Hungary en route to the Rescue Cat Awards final, having boarded a lorry to give birth to her two kittens.
It was not until security guards at the lorry’s destination, a Suzuki site in Milton Keynes, heard noises seven days later that Mia and her kittens were discovered. Francesca Robinson, who works at the site, was so amazed at Mia’s survival and maternal instincts that, after the cats’ quarantine was over, she adopted all three.
