Ultimate Survivor Finalist - Joey

Three-year-old tabby-and-white cat, Joey, earned his place in the final due to surviving a series of life-threatening challenges.

He was found living rough on some wasteland close to a very busy motorway and has battled against the odds ever since. Soon afterwards, he was diagnosed with a medical condition that meant both of his eyes had to be removed. As if this wasn’t enough, he then endured an attack by a stray dog, but has remained a happy and loving companion to his owners, Sharon and John Scrupps.

Eight-year-old Casper defied the odds when he survived a horrific house fire in which five other cats died.

Casper was resuscitated for 20 minutes by a fireman at the scene before being rushed to vets. He was seriously ill, but somehow found the strength to pull through. Since his recovery, Casper has been of great comfort and inspiration to his owners as they come to terms with the loss of their other feline friends.

Oliver
From Shifnal, Shropshire

Ultimate Survivor Finalist - Oliver
Photo: UNP

Four-year-old Shifnal cat, Oliver, made the final after surviving being hit by a shotgun cartridge.

Owner, Sue Strickland, adopted Oliver as a kitten after his stray mother was rushed to a vet. In May this year, he suffered terrible injuries – including an eye so damaged it had to be removed – when an unknown attacker shot him. Despite having at least 20 pieces of shot in his body and the ordeal of through-the-night emergency surgery, Oliver has bounced back to be the friendly cat he has always been.
