Unlucky Halloween Black Cats Looking for Love

Spookiest day of the year? Not if you cosy-up with a lucky black cat!

North Birmingham Cats Protection has been packed with black cats this Halloween and is appealing to Brums’ animal-lovers to consider a ‘lucky’ addition to the family.  And if an adopter wants to ‘double their luck’ they could take on brothers Jet and Jimmie - 24 weeks old and looking for forever homes – preferably together.

Currently, the boisterous black boys are with Sutton CP fosterer, Sue Lamb. Sue describes Jet and Jimmie as ‘lovable rogues - playful and inquisitive, well-socialised and desperate to find a family of their own.’  Lucky for some, their four siblings were adopted in September, leaving Jet and Jimmie the last lonely kittens in the litter. As much as their fosterer loves them, they are taking up precious pen-space, and until they are homed the charity has to turn away cats that are truly more needy.

Traditionally linked to witches, black cats are believed to bring good luck – yet the charity finds them the hardest felines to re-home. So the local branch is hoping prospective owners will choose the spookiest time of the year to adopt their very own lucky charm.

The branch also has several gorgeous, healthy, black and white kittens too, 9 weeks old and just ready to be homed.

Homing Officer Kerrie Rowson said: “We don’t know why black cats are less popular than tabbies and gingers - but certainly we have several black cats that would love to find new homes. Since they’re considered lucky, giving a black cat a second chance could bring purr-fect good fortune all round!

For more details, call Cats Protection North Birmingham branch adoption line on 07830 208999 or check-out the Adopt a Cat pages.  Cats and kittens in need of homes will be displaying their charms at the charity’s next homing day on 19 November at the Friends Meeting House, Kenelm Road, Sutton from 10.30 to noon. (Adoption fees apply.)

(Note - Jet and Jimmie have now been homed, but we still have lots of cats of all colours waiting to meet their forever family!)
