Letter from Belle (previously Gladys)

Letter from Belle (previously Gladys) new owner to one of our fosterers.

I thought I would let you know just how well Belle (Gladys!) has settled down with us.
In short She's in charge!

We were a little worried when she first started going out.  However, she always returns, although no longer over the fence.  She appears to have problems jumping or climbing and I notice that this week she has trouble jumping into the armchair, so I think a visit to the vets is on the cards.

She sleeps on my bed when she feels like it.  Fortunately not all through the night as she prefers to sleep directly on the bottom sheet and doesn't like the duvet over her.  That was fine when it was a bit warmer!  Unfortunately she sleeps most of the day which means she starts playing about just when I am ready for bed.  I also get 5 am visits when she attacks my feet!

She's a dribbler!  I was just falling asleep and suddenly felt a wet patch on my hands.

Whoever had her before us had her well trained.  She rarely used the litter tray and goes in the garden (hopefully ours!).  She sits in the same place in the kitchen when she wants feeding and makes a noise when I get home from work.

She is really great company, although occasionally she can stick her claws in, but again I think her back being touched can cause this.  She is a "patter" which means she puts her paws on you and tries to grab you if you stop making a fuss.

If its OK with you, I'll keep her!

From Julie, Belle's new mum

We then asked Belle's new owner if we could publish this letter and received this reply from Belle:

Julie told me that you wanted to publish "our" letter on your website.  We were both delighted and look forward to seeing our names in lights so to speak.

I just thought I would let you know that things are going really well.  It didn't take me long to train Julie in my ways.  She may be the boss but I am in charge!

My favourite game is worrying her to let me out the front door and race round to the back door before she does!  I sleep most of the day and wait until Julie is home from work and ready to sit down and relax before I start playing.  When she goes to bed I usually sleep on the bed for about an hour and then I go back to my favourite chair until about 6.  I then jump on her to let her know I need to go out.  I don't like using the litter tray and prefer using (sometimes next doors!) the garden.  It hasn't been fun when the snow and ice was around, however, I made sure Julie "turned over" the soil for me.

I would never tell her myself but I do love her (even though I do sometimes bite and scratch her) and I know she is grateful that I have given her the opportunity to look after me.

Well I must go as I am ready for yet another sleep.

Belle
