Honey
My story starts at the beginning of this year. I decided to get a cat for company and had a look on the North Walsham website and there she was this little cat called Fiona (now known as Honey). I went and met her that weekend she was a very small timid cat but had the most amazing eyes and what could only be described as a big squirrel tail it was almost as big as her. It was love at first sight for me and I'd like to think it was for Honey too! Anyway after what seemed like the longest week ever I went to collect her. I'm not quite sure who was more nervous Honey or me because you see Honey is my first cat. We arrived home and after letting Honey out of her carrier she shot under the sideboard in the dining room and stayed there for the rest of the afternoon. When I looked all I could see were these huge eyes looking back at me absolutely petrified! A couple of friends came round that evening for a chinese and we soon found out that Honey could be tempted out from hiding with a piece of crispy duck! The hiding under the sideboard subsided after a couple of days and she ventured into different parts of the house and soon she was brave enough to have a play with some of her toys. As the weeks went on she gained in confidence and I finally let her outside. Talk about nervous and that was just me!! Honey didn't venture far to begin with but I had to teach myself to relax and not worry when she finally went further afield! I've had Honey for six months now and she is a constant source of amusement. She's much more confident, still a little scared of visitors in the house but now she hides behind the sofa rather than high tailing it out of the cat flap in record time! The big squirrel tail doesn't seem quite so big now that she has put on some weight and fluffed up. Honey is always waiting for me when I get home and I am always greeted by an affectionate bump with her head and loud purrs. She can't wait to jump on my lap for some fuss and attention. She's quite talkative, she likes to meow to let me know where she is in the house and announce when she has entered the room! I've had a couple of "presents" a dead sparrow and a worm and just recently she has walked in with a live moth which I had to rescue at break neck speed!!
Honey really is the most adorable cat and it has been very rewarding gaining her trust and seeing her flourish. When I watch her in the garden and think back to the first few days it really is amazing how far she has come. I'm not sure who is the boss but we are definitely enjoying one anothers company!!
