If you have lost a cat or found a cat, please contact us on the number below or provide us with details on the Contact Us Section of this website.
For Lost Cats we will need to know:
- Your name, address and telephone number
- The name, colour, sex and age of the cat
- When the cat went missing
- Where the cat was last seen
- Was the cat wearing a collar?
- Is the cat micro chipped?
- Has the cat been neutered?
We would then suggest that you:
- Report the cat as missing to all veterinary surgeries in the area and also any local animal rescue centres.
- Place posters and full details of your cat (with a photograph if possible) in local shops and on notice boards, etc.
- Do a leaflet drop (again giving full details of the cat) to neighbours asking them to check their sheds and garages in case your cat has accidently been locked in.
- If your cat has been micro chipped, contact the micro chip company to register it as lost.
- You could also report the loss, free of charge, with two websites, www.animalseachuk.co.uk (telephone no 01432 761406) and www.missingpetsbureas.com (telephone no 0870 1999000)
We will keep a record of your cat and should someone find him/her we will put you in contact with them. Don't despair. Cats will often go missing for a few days. Many cats are reunited with their owners that have been missing from home for several weeks. When your cat returns please remember to take your posters down and let the people/organizations know that you have been reunited with your pet.
For Found Cats we need to know:
- Your name, address and telephone number
- A full description of the cat, and, if possible, its sex
- Does the cat appear to be in good condition/hungry?
- How long has the cat been in the area?
- Have enquiries been made with neighbours to establish whether anyone's cat is missing?
- Has contact been made with veterinary surgeries and other rescue organisations in the area to see if the cat has been reported lost?
What next?
- If the cat is injured or appears to be very ill, take it to your local vets to see if it requires urgent treatment
- As cats have a habit of visiting neighbours (especially if they have access to food there) we can send paper collars to put on the cat to make sure it does not have an owner
- The cat may be micro chipped. Your local vet or rescue centre will usually be happy to check this for you, and, if the cat is chipped, they can contact the microchip company so that the owner can be contacted.
- Check the cats registered as lost on the websites listed under "Lost Cats.
- Place notices in local shops giving full details of the cat and advising it has been found
- If the owner cannot be found and the cat needs a new home, contact the local rescue centres (most will probably have waiting lists) so that the cat can be taken into care.
