Twinkle was found scrounging from bins in Stromness. She received urgent vet treatment when she first came into our care. She had been vomiting plastic and she was seriously undernourished.
At first she didn’t trust anyone. She cowered in her bed with her ears flat back to her head and hissed. She shook with fear.
The fosterer looked after her daily needs, administered medication and tlc. At first Twinkle would tremble if the fosterer sat nearby without even making eye contact. With perseverance after 2 weeks she sat and cuddled her. Twinkle hissed like crazy but no claws were ever drawn. She gradually relaxed and when the fosterer heard the lovely purring sound it felt like winning the lottery. Following daily cuddles Twinkle seemed much calmer and the shaking reduced. She still continued to hiss but this was always replaced with her lovely purring. She never meowed but she learnt to play and actually sat and looked out of the window, instead of cowering in her bed when anyone came near.
Her story was put in the paper and a family came forward to adopt her. They knew that they would need extra patience and they were more than happy to give Twinkle a loving home and second chance. Now this is twinkle in her new home.
