2011 Kitten Season has proved to be Rugby Cats Protection's most challenging yet.
In previous years, we have never really had lots of kittens waiting a long time to be adopted as they normally get adopted pretty quickly. In fact, we've usually always had a waiting list FOR kittens. This has to be testament to our constant promotion of the benefits of neutering in the Rugby area.
This year has been a bit different. At one point we had a staggering 31 kittens on our waiting list. Notably 10 kittens from 2 feral un-neutered cats in Grandborough, the last 2 of these were reserved this week. One Mum is still to be trapped for neutering though :-( And also 2 un-nneutered females on a farm in Barby means the family now have 12 kittens needing new homes, although hopefully we had two of those reserved this week. This does go to show however, just how important neutering is. 2 cats can so quickly become 12..............
Happily, our press release generated lots of interest in adoption of kittens and we have cleared the backlog of kittens, for now....
