Pikey the Tesco Cat!
09 August 2022
Many of you will probably know Pikey, who was possibly better known as the Tesco cat!
21-year-old Pikey was often seen outside (and sometimes inside!) the Tesco Express in Bilton. Over the years, Pikey became a bit of a local celebrity with many people knowing about him and sometimes reporting him to us as a possible lost cat! His antics even made it into the National press!
Very sadly, Pikey passed away in July, and one
of his regular visitors to the Tesco store wanted to do something in honour of him. Chloe, who is 8 years old, decided that the best way to honour Pikey's memory would be to help other cats in need. With the help of Tesco's staff, Chloe was allowed to put up a collection bin for people to donate items to help less fortunate cats in Rugby. We are so grateful that Chloe chose Rugby Cats Protection to receive the generous donations from members of the public.
We think Chloe is an absolute star who has a heart of gold. Thank you, Chloe for organising such an incredible collection and thank you to the staff at Bilton Tesco Express for allowing this.
The volunteers at Rugby CP were very fond of Pikey, and we were devastated when we learned that he had passed away. We all send our heartfelt condolences to Pikey's family and everyone who loved him.
Rest in peace sweet Pikey
