Adopt a cat

A guide to our homing process

We’re keen to help as many cats as possible, both during the current crisis’ and beyond. Offering our cats a home will help to free up more space to take in emergency cases.

Here is our guide to adopting a cat from us

  • Check you are within a reasonable distance of South Birmingham
  • Enquire. If you’ve found a cat on our website that you’re interested in homing, send an enquiry through using the online form.
  • Reserve your cat. If you’re found to be a match for your chosen cat, you’ll be contacted via email, and a suitable time will be arranged for you to meet them and ask any questions you have. You may be asked for proof of your address and the consent of your landlord (if you live in a rented property). Once both parties are happy, the cat will be marked as reserved and a confirmation email with further details will be sent to you. Adoption fees are as follows and need to be paid by prior to the adoption date (usually by bank transfer):

£115 for kittens up to 6 months old
£95 for cats older than 6 months
  • Adopt. Once you have reserved your cat, we will arrange a suitable time for you to collect your new cat.  There will be some paperwork to sign, and you can ask any further questions you have then.
  • Be supported. You’ll receive a follow-up email after the adoption to check that your new arrival is settled in. You can also find help and advice on the Cats Protection website at www.cats.org.uk/advice.
