ASSISTANCE WITH THE COSTS OF NEUTERING YOUR CAT.
It’s ‘Kitten Season’ again in Birmingham. Sunshine and shorter nights see our feline pets out and doing what comes naturally, on a City-wide scale! The result is thousands of unwanted cats born in Birmingham every year.
To help cope with the situation, South Birmingham Cats Protection is gearing up its Neutering Campain, offering vouchers that can be redeemed against the cost of neutering at most Vets in the South Birmingham area.
The vouchers are available to cat owners living in the Branch’s area, who are in receipt of benefit payments, and in certain other circumstances, which Branch volunteers will explain to callers to the charity’s Helpline, (0845 3711845). To see if you are in the Branch’s area visit our 'What we do' page to check your post code.
The vouchers are worth £26.00 for a female and £20.00 for a male. It is as important for males to be neutered as females. All cats will be happier and much healthier after the operation and much more affectionate too!.
Participating owners will be responsible for the transport of their pet to and from their vet and for following their vet's instructions on care for their pet before and after the operation.

RESCUE TEAM FOSTERERS NEEDED - B&B accommodation for recuperating ferals
Feral cats are a huge problem in South Birmingham and we have now formed a TNR Team that aims to catch and neuter as many feral cats as possible. Traps are set to catch the cats and they are then taken to vets to be spayed or castrated. Some cats need to be kept overnight prior to the operation and all need to recuperate in a quiet safe pen before they are returned to their colony. Although they will continue to live as ferals they will not be responsible for any more kittens joining the group and thus perpetuating the colony.
Unlike our regular Fosterers, Rescue Team Fosterers will be looking after these cats for very short periods and the TNR Team will be responsible for delivering and collecting the cats. Cats Protection will provide pens, kit and food and expenses will be paid.
South Birmingham is taking on a huge commitment in attempting to reduce the number of feral cats in the suburbs and we need all the help we can get to meet our targets.
If you are interested in helping and have an area, such as a garden, garage or shed, where a pen or pens could be put, please do contact our Helpline on 0845 3711854 or e-mail the Branch at southbham.cats.org.uk
