WHY GET YOUR CAT NEUTERED?

Male cats are less likely to roam, fight or territory mark by spraying. They are less vulnerable to some cancers and diseases such as Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) or Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV) which can be sexually transmitted or caught through fighting. Male cats are more likely to be 'homebodies' as they lose the urge to find a mate.

Female cats can become pregnant at 4 months old and can have up to three litters of kittens a year. This puts enormous stress on a young cats body and can be costly feeding and providing veterinary treatment. It also stops female cats wailing during the mating season (January - August) leaving you with a better night sleep! As with male cats, neutered female cats are less vulnerable to some cancers and diseases such as Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) or Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV) which can be sexually transmitted.

If you’d like more information on the benefits of neutering please take a look at our leaflet here*  This leaflet should answer any question you have about neutering, but if you still have any questions and would like to speak to one of our volunteers, you can call us on 01480 476696, 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday.
