THE STRAY CAT by CHRISTINE SUSAN BENTLEY

                                                  THE STRAY CAT

the cat was hungry and thin when she came
to my door on a freezing winter night.
           she looked a sorry sight..
           with eyes so appealing
             yet full of despair.
.     she looked at me as if to say
i hope you have room for one more cat.
i will not ask you for much,
a drop of water for me will do.
     WHATS THAT .she says
i can have some milk .
        well thank you very much.
a tiny scrap of food i would love
if you have it to spare.
her luck she could not believe when
      i gave her some fish.
a dry spot in your shed
         may i please have..
         much better than having no
                   place at all
how thrilled she was when my cats
invited her to share their bed.
   but suddenly she went though
                          the door
   leaving me to wonder why,
but a little time later i knew why
when through the door she brought
                     a tiny kitten ,
                        than two more .
she looked at me with eyes unsure..
                                as if to say
please keep me and my family.
for others have thrown me out
    when they became fed up
                                      of me.
SO PLEASE .oh please don;t you do
                                            the same.
but as she settled her little family down
I saw in her eyes she knew from
                                            now on
she would always have a loving home,,
