Support Adoption For Pets Video Competition Entry 2014

02 September 2014
Support Adoption For Pets Video Competition Entry 2014 Cats Protection has been invited to apply for one of 10 grants of £50,000 that will be awarded to UK animal rescues in July 2014.

The grants are offered by Support Adoption For Pets, the independent charity supported by Pets At Home, which supports over 650 pet rescue and rehoming centres across the UK. To apply, we need to create a video explaining what our project is and how £50,000 could make a difference to our work. We’ve filmed the video at our Haslemere Adoption Centre in Surrey, where we desperately need to build new isolation pens.

Isolation is used for cats that are ill and have a confirmed or suspected infectious disease, requiring them to be separated from other cats at the centre. We currently use steel recovery cages but they don’t provide full isolation. The adoption centre desperately needs a refurbishment to replace the existing pens with new ones made from UPVC, which will be more hygienic and easier to clean.

A grant of £50,000 from Support Adoption For Pets will allow us to build a self-contained unit of three isolation pens with all the required equipment. The grant would provide us with the opportunity to help even more cats as we’ll be able to take in cats with existing illnesses, who might not be considered by other welfare organisations without these facilities.

Our video, along with all the other applications from fellow rescue charities and not-for-profit organisations, is viewable through the Support Adoption For Pets Facebook page.
