Dewey the book

Dewey The BookCats Protection rehomes and reunites 52,500 cats and kittens every year, creating many happy stories throughout the UK. The book of Dewey the library cat tells the incredible tale of a rescue cat who transforms a whole community.

On the coldest night of the year, a tiny, bedraggled kitten was left in a library return box. Found almost frozen to death in the morning by librarian Vicki, the kitten was taken into the library to recover, where he promptly made himself at home.

Dewey, as the townspeople named the kitten, quickly became the focal point of a town desperately in need of some community spirit and hope. Mischievous, affectionate and outgoing, Dewey’s fame spread, with people travelling from all over the world to see him.
