Appeal 2006

At Cats Protection we believe that every cat deserves a second chance in life, no matter what their age or state of health.

The national cat population is growing all the time; older cats are often left behind when elderly people pass away and many owners cannot cope which the increasing veterinary costs as cats move into later life.

Older cats are often overlooked and can be with us for months before we find them a new home. We never put a healthy cat to sleep, which means that, when an older cat comes to us, we are committed to caring for them until a new home is found.

Here are some of the costs we incur while caring for an older cat:

  • £20 – a clinical examination
  • £25 – one month’s ongoing medication
  • £40 – a blood/urine test
  • £80 – an X-ray
  • £300 – surgery for hyperthyroidism
