Volunteering
At Cats Protection we welcome volunteers with open arms, whether you are young or old, male or female, there's a place for you with us!
Why become a volunteer?
Volunteering is the most worthwhile thing you can ever do. It gives a real sense of achievement, allows the development of new skills and the social possibilities are endless!
Much of Cats Protection's work is carried out by volunteers, many of whom have full time jobs too. You can do lots of different things at a branch or adoption centre, from hands on work with the cats as a fosterer or cat cuddler, to public relations or fund raising. If you have a skill then we can use it! All you have to do is get in touch with us.
Our branch needs a new Treasurer.
Maisie our former treasurer has recently given up this volunteer role following her return to work full time. We therefore need someone who is conversant with accounting procedures including Excel & VAT to follow in her footsteps. Several hours each week are required for record keeping &, as this is a committee post, the applicant needs to be available at weekends to attend meetings. Full training will be given. References are required.
Why not become a member of our branch? You can then become a helper in those areas that you like,,and receive a quarterly newsletter of the things the branch is involved in, plus the latest news on where we plan to go in the future. The cost is only £5 per year or £7 for family membership, so give it a go and see what you can do to help. See our feature later.

Another way of volunteering
At Cats Protection we are currently looking for people to foster elderly cats. Anyone who volunteers would be asked to foster the cats in their own home but the charity would pay any on-going vets bills and possibly provide food if a special diet was required. The idea is to give elderly cats loving homes - but to people who understand that they may not have very long with them. It is very upsetting when a pet dies, and this often means that older cats are overlooked by people who are looking to adopt. The fact is, elderly cats still need loving homes too. A Cats Protection cat fosterer would take in an elderly cat(s) and look after them until they pass, at which point they would take on another elderly cat who is in need of some TLC.
