Alice's story.
Alice a ginger middle-aged female, was brought to us at the end of January from a multi-cat household. Prior to handing the cat over, the previous owner had explained that she had an abcess on her back. However, the staff soon realised that they were dealing with obvious neglect, when they discovered a large red sore between Alice's shoulder blades.
Our vet diagnosed the sore as an infected malignant tumour of the skin that required urgent surgery. Luckily, it was a straight forward procedure and Alice came through it well, leaving her with a very long scar.
Despite her ordeal, Alice stayed true to her sweet and loving nature. All the staff grew very fond of her and she soon became the shelter's favourite. Due to the uncertain future, we became anxious that Alice would be overlooked and unable to find a new owner. But very soon, a wonderful family came along and fell in love with Alice instantly. They were more than willing to give Alice a loving home for however long she had left with us.
We wish Alice and her family the best of luck for the future.

A few days ago Alice's owners informed us that she had passed away. Sadly the cancer came back, and it was kindest not to prolong her suffering. We at the CP were very sad to hear this news, as Alice was everyone's favourite. However we are glad to know that Alice had 9 happy months with her new family, which provided her with a loving and caring home.
We want to thank Alice's family for taking such good care of her and having given her that second chance.
