ASLAN’S HAPPY ENDING
Aslan came to our shelter last year in November, because his previous owner was unable to care for him any longer.
Aslan was a big ginger and white male, who had scabs all over his body and the skin around his eyes was very swollen and sore. The vet diagnosed it as facial pyoderma, probably caused by a flea allergy. The skin around Aslan’s eyes would be permanently scarred giving him his very distinct look. He was also overweight and was put on special dietary food. Although this big friendly chap required steroid injections whenever the skin around his eyes flared up again, we moved him into our Homing section to give him a chance to find a loving and permanent home. Unfortunately, some of our visitors laughed at his size or were disgusted by his unusual looks. This was upsetting for staff, as Aslan was the biggest softie you could wish to meet. He loved being stroked and fussed and would respond to attention with affectionate headbutts.
For a while it didn’t look as though we’d find a new home for Aslan any time soon. But two gentlemen visited our shelter one day and instantly fell in love with him. Although Aslan was not ready to leave yet, until the results of his biopsies were ready, these gentlemen were keen to reserve him. They ensured us that even if the biopsy results indicated something serious, they were happy to offer Aslan a home for as long as he had left.
They visited every day to spend time with Aslan and spoil him with freshly cooked chicken. They always brought enough chicken to treat the other cats too. Luckily, the results were absolutely fine and nothing stood in the way of these gentlemen to take him home finally.
Aslan settled into his new home straight away and now even has a new feline friend to play with and snuggle up to.
We wish Aslan’s new owners all the best and thank them for offering him such a loving and caring home.
