Volunteering

Welcome to the Wellingborough and Rushden branch of Cats Protection and thank you for showing an interest in volunteering with us. We have many varied roles that are detailed further on in this information pack.

At Cats Protection, we welcome volunteers with open arms, whether you are young or old, male or female, there's a place for you with us! Volunteering is the most worthwhile thing you can ever do. It gives a real sense of achievement, allows the development of new skills and the social possibilities are endless.

Available roles

Working with stray
cats

Our branch receives many calls regarding stray cats, these cats often turn out to be owned cats or even lost cats.  Unfortunately, we are unable to bring all the cats into our care but we do try to go out and see the cat, scan for a chip and assess how important it is for the cat to come in. We ae looking for another one or two people to assist with this role.

Cat Fosterer

We are always looking for people to foster our cats and kittens.  We have people that foster cats in pens, located in their garden and others that prefer to foster in their own home.

The cost of installing a pen is quite significant so we really need to know that you are committed to fostering.  Alternatively, if you have a spare room in your house, you could be an indoor foster carer with a view to having a pen later.

Direct Homing Officer

At Wellingborough & Rushden Cats Protection Branch, we offer a service where owned cats can be rehomed without the cat having to come into care.  The role of Direct Homing Officer will include contacting the owner, visiting the cats, ensuring we have good photographs and descriptions of the cats.  The cats will also need to be vet checked before homing and they must also be neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.

Home Visitor

Cats Protection’s Wellingborough and Rushden branch needs to recruit a Home Visitor to help place unwanted and abandoned cats with loving new owners.

Fundraising volunteer

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best – whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!
